Found that 2018 interview by chance while researching Krasnodar for a travel piece. He said children in the region deserved proper schooling in the game, not shortcuts. I think about that line more than I expected to.

Andrei Alekseyevich Nemykin was a Russian football goalkeeper who played for Kuban Krasnodar and other clubs in the Krasnodar region, and later worked in youth football development. He died on 28 October 2026, aged 54.
Nemykin was born on 20 February 1972. He began his senior career in 1991 with Torpedo Armavir, where he made 34 league appearances in his first season as a professional. From there he moved into the orbit of Kuban Krasnodar, the leading club of the region. In 1992 he made his first appearances for Kuban and also played for Niva Slavyansk-na-Kubani. He returned to Kuban for further spells in 1993-94 and 1995, while continuing to share time with Niva, a pattern typical of goalkeepers moving between the regional first team and neighbouring clubs.
Across his Kuban years he collected a modest number of first-team caps rather than long unbroken runs in goal, but he remained part of the club's wider squad picture during the early Russian league era. Later he turned out for Kolos Pavlovskaya in 2000 and for GNS-Spartak Krasnodar in several seasons between 2000 and 2007. Standing 1.85 metres, he was a local product of the Kuban football scene rather than a national star, yet he became a familiar figure around Krasnodar football.
After his playing days he moved into sports administration and youth work. By the late 2010s he was known as a former Kuban goalkeeper and former director of a sports training centre. In a January 2018 interview with the Green Mile supporter site he spoke at length about gaps in children's and youth football coaching across Krasnodar Krai, arguing that many regional schools lacked proper preparation for young players. The interview presented him as someone who had stayed close to the game after hanging up his gloves, concerned with how the next generation would be taught.
FC Kuban announced his death on its news pages, saying he had died in his 55th year. Russian and English Wikipedia recorded the date as 28 October 2026. The club notice and subsequent summaries did not state a cause of death. He was 54. Fans and local football writers remembered him as a Kuban goalkeeper of the 1990s who later tried to improve pathways for young players in the region.
