Terms of use

Plain-English terms. This is a draft for review by a solicitor before launch.

1. Who we are

People Forever (“we”, “us”) is a brand of a company registered in the UK. These terms apply to everyone who uses peopleforever.com.

2. Your account

You must be 16 or over to create an account. Keep your sign-in details safe; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

3. Forever profiles

You may create a profile only for a person who has died, or link a profile to an event in which people died. You must be a family member, friend, or otherwise have a genuine connection to the person, or the person must be a public figure. Do not impersonate the family of someone you did not know.

The person who creates a profile is its owner and controls who can see and contribute to it. Owners can remove any contribution. If a family member asks us to transfer or remove a profile of their relative, we will consider the request fairly and may act on it.

4. What you post

You keep ownership of what you post, and you give us a licence to display it on the profile you posted it to and in emails to that profile’s members. Post only what you have the right to post. Do not post anything abusive, defamatory, sexual, or that reveals private information about living people without their consent. We remove content that breaks these rules and may close accounts.

5. Giving and fundraising

  • Gifts to a family are paid by card through Stripe to the organiser’s connected Stripe account. We charge no platform fee on family gifts. Stripe’s card processing cost (2.9% + 30¢ per gift) is deducted unless the giver chooses to cover it, and givers may add an optional tip to People Forever; everything is shown before you pay. Gifts are taken in US dollars. We never hold family money ourselves. Organisers are responsible for using gifts for the purpose they stated and for any tax that applies to them.
  • Gifts to a charity are collected by us and passed to the charity in full, less card processing costs, in a monthly transfer. We keep no fee on charity gifts. These gifts are not eligible for Gift Aid through us.
  • Trees are planted by our planting partner. Part of the price covers planting and a certificate; the remainder supports People Forever.
  • Gifts are voluntary and generally non-refundable. If you gave by mistake or suspect a fundraiser is not genuine, email us within 14 days and we will investigate.

6. Public figures and events

Profiles of public figures and event pages are created from public sources, credited where required, and open to anyone to contribute. They are not endorsed by the person’s estate. Estates and families can ask us to correct or take over such a profile.

7. Our service

We aim to keep profiles online permanently. We will give at least 12 months’ notice and a way to export every profile if that ever has to change. We are not liable for loss caused by things outside our control, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; we will email account holders about material changes. English law applies and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
