Bismarck Vinicyus Freire do Nascimento (25 August 1990 - 6 November 2026), known simply as Bismarck, was a Brazilian attacking midfielder whose nearly two-decade career traced the map of Northeast football and beyond. Born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, and raised in the Passo da Pátria community, he was revealed by Fortaleza, won the Copa do Nordeste with Campinense in 2013, and collected state titles and promotions with clubs from Ceará to Piauí. He died at 36 after being shot at a bar in Natal's Cidade Alta district.

Bismarck took his first steps in a community football project in Passo da Pátria and, still a boy, passed a trial at the former Centro de Futebol Zico. As a teenager his talent drew attention beyond Natal; he left the Potiguar capital for Fortaleza Esporte Clube. With the Tricolor he turned professional and won three consecutive Campeonatos Cearenses between 2008 and 2010. He was also part of the Fortaleza side that reached the quarter-finals of the 2008 Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, then the club's best campaign in the competition. According to ge.globo reporting on his Ceará years, he made about 109 appearances for Fortaleza between 2009 and 2012 (including loan periods) and scored eight goals; Fortaleza's own tribute after his death cited 122 official matches and 12 goals across his time with the club.

In 2010 he belonged to the Guarany de Sobral group that won the Brazilian Série D, the first national title claimed by a Ceará club. Three years later he reached the peak of his career wearing Campinense's shirt: he was among the standouts as the Paraíba side lifted the 2013 Copa do Nordeste, one of the most important titles in Campinense's history. In 2016, as CSA's number 10, he helped the Alagoas club finish Série D runners-up and earn promotion to Série C.

Back in his home state he played for Globo FC of Ceará-Mirim in 2017 and 2018, finishing state runner-up and again helping a side to Série D runner-up and Série C promotion; ge reported 29 official matches and three goals for Globo. He never received a senior chance with Natal's traditional ABC or América-RN, despite family hopes. In Piauí he won the Campeonato Piauiense with River-PI in 2019 and again with Fluminense-PI in 2022. Over roughly twenty years he passed through about thirty clubs in thirteen Brazilian states plus a spell with Espérance de Tunis in Tunisia. Other stops included Santa Cruz, Vila Nova, Treze, Botafogo-PB, Paraná, Rio Branco-PR, Luminense, and Parnahyba in 2026, where he played five matches and scored once. He had recently agreed to join Olímpia of Maranhão for the 2027 Campeonato Maranhense.

On the night of 5 - 6 November 2026 Bismarck was shot at Bar do Borogodó on Rua Vaz Gondim in the Beco da Lama area of Cidade Alta, Natal. Civil Police said he and friends had an altercation with a man, reportedly linked to jealousy; the suspect left, returned, and opened fire. Bismarck was taken to Hospital Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel and did not survive; a second person was wounded. Police opened a homicide and attempted-homicide investigation. His wake was held at the Passo da Pátria community court; burial was scheduled for Saturday 7 November 2026 at 10:00 at Cemitério Público do Alecrim. Clubs including Fortaleza, Campinense, CSA, and Globo, and the Federação Norte-Rio-Grandense de Futebol, issued tributes. His daughter Vitória remembered him publicly as the man of her life.

Bismarck is remembered as a durable number 10 of the Brazilian interior and Northeast circuit: a Natal boy who left young, returned often, and left titles from the Cearense trilogy and Guarany's historic Série D to Campinense's Nordestão and two Piauiense crowns.

My mum called me about this, she used to watch Campinense games with my ex's family back when I lived in Natal. Didn't know him, just remember that 2013 cup run being a big deal in the house.

He grew up in the Passo da Pátria community on Natal's east side, where he first played organised football in a local project. In adolescence his performances drew scouts; he left Natal for the youth ranks of Fortaleza Esporte Clube in Ceará, beginning the professional path that would define his life.

In 2013, with Campinense, he starred in the Copa do Nordeste triumph that became the highlight of his career and made him an idol in Paraíba. In 2016 he wore CSA's number 10 in a Série D runner-up / Série C promotion campaign.

With Globo FC (2017 - 18) he was Potiguar runner-up and again helped a side to Série D runner-up and Série C access (29 matches, three goals per ge). He won the Campeonato Piauiense with River-PI (2019) and Fluminense-PI (2022). Personal life

Bismarck remained closely tied to Passo da Pátria, where his wake was later held. He was the father of a daughter, Vitória, who publicly mourned him after his death. Despite family hopes, he never played senior football for Natal's ABC or América-RN. Colleagues and Northeast clubs remembered him as a travelling number 10 whose career stayed rooted in regional football.
