Jeff Guerriero, known to wrestling fans as Jeff Cannonball, was an American independent professional wrestler and punk musician who died on October 8, 2026, at the age of 39 after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.
Born on June 24, 1987, in Highland Park, New Jersey, Guerriero built his career on the hardcore and deathmatch circuit of the American independent wrestling scene, working primarily across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. He made his in-ring debut around 2010 and went on to compete for promotions including Combat Zone Wrestling, H2O Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling and Frontier Martial Arts Wrestling. He was best known for his tenure in H2O Wrestling, where he became a two time world heavyweight champion and a two time tag team champion, and he was inducted into the Deathmatch Hall of Fame by GCW in 2025.
Outside the ring, Guerriero was also active in the punk scene, performing with bands including Altered Boys and Black Kites, and he spoke publicly about the parallels he saw between the physical intensity of hardcore wrestling and the energy of a punk show. Within the small but devoted world of deathmatch wrestling, he was regarded as both a punishing in-ring performer willing to take extreme physical risk and a gifted comedic wrestler, and he earned deep affection from peers and fans alike for his charisma outside of matches.
In May 2025, Guerriero announced that he had been diagnosed with ALS after roughly a year of misdiagnosed symptoms. He continued to be a visible and beloved figure in the wrestling community through his illness, and promoters organized tribute events in his honor, including a benefit show called CannonballFest organized by Joey Janela in September 2025 and an event called CannonBrawl staged by Interspecies Wrestling in October 2025.
Guerriero died on the morning of October 8, 2026, with his wife, fellow wrestler Terra Calaway, announcing his death on social media. Tributes poured in from across the independent wrestling world, including from promotions such as GCW and MLW and wrestlers including Nyla Rose, Tony Deppen, Colby Corino and WARHORSE. He is not to be confused with other people sharing his name, including an unrelated attorney practicing in Monroe, Louisiana.
