Roney Facchini

Roney Macedo Facchini was born on 6 February 1953 in São Paulo, Brazil. He became a familiar face on Brazilian television and a long-serving stage actor, but the public record places civil engineering before the theatre. He trained at the Escola de Engenharia Mauá. Major news outlets including g1 and O Globo report that he graduated in 1977. Portuguese Wikipedia and CNN Brasil instead list 1997, and Wikipedia flags that year as needing a source. This page does not choose 1977 or 1997. The sources agree that engineering came first and that the stage claimed him next.

He entered professional theatre in the early 1980s. Wikipedia's theatre list opens with O Baile da Ilha Fiscal (1982) and runs through more than thirty productions across comedy, classics, direction and production credits. Among the titles are Parente Entre Parênteses, Teledeum, Almanaque Brasil, Ciranda dos Homens... Carnaval dos Animais, Terça Insana, and festival work. After about twenty-five years in the profession he took on the monologue A Alegria do Palhaço, text and direction by Antonio Rocco for São Paulo's N.Ex.T / Teatro NEXT. The piece follows a clown who once burned a circus out of jealousy and must now play every role alone. Guia da Semana's 2008 listing called it a challenge for Facchini, who portrayed eleven characters. In 2022 he played Manoel da Nóbrega in the musical Silvio Santos Vem Aí.

National recognition arrived through children's television. On TV Cultura's Rá-Tim-Bum he played Luís da Silva, the patriarch of the Silva family whose sketches framed the educational programme. Later credits include Multishow and GNT comedies, Fox Brasil's Rio Heroes, HBO Brasil's A Vida Secreta dos Casais, Globoplay's Hebe (2020) and Os Parças (2024), and Star+'s O Rei da TV (2022).

Cinema credits stretch from Suzana Amaral's A Hora da Estrela (1985) through Cilada.com (2011), Vai Que Dá Certo (2013), Hector Babenco's Meu Amigo Hindu (2015), and Polícia Federal: A Lei É Para Todos (2017), in which he portrayed Paulo Roberto Costa. Wikipedia catalogues more than fifteen film appearances, including shorts.

Away from the set he lived in São Paulo and kept an Instagram account, @roneyfacchini. Press identify his husband and partner as João Paulo. No verified public names for parents, siblings or children appear in the obituaries used here, and none are invented on this page. Friends such as actor Nilton Bicudo spoke of recent voice messages and affection. In the hours and days before his death he was still posting reflections on fellow artists, including Dolly Parton, Laura Cardoso, Glória Menezes, and, shortly before dying, a video praising Gal Costa's voice.

On Sunday 6 September 2026, aged 73, Facchini suffered a sudden collapse, a mal súbito, inside his car after leaving the garage of the São Paulo building where he lived, according to João Paulo. Samu took him to Hospital Oswaldo Cruz. He did not survive. A precise medical diagnosis was not made public, and this page does not invent one. The Prêmio Bibi Ferreira Instagram account announced the death. Colleagues including Grace Gianoukas, Marisa Orth, Angela Dippe, Nilton Bicudo, Enrique Diaz, Lucio Mauro Filho, Claudio Lins, Sandra Corveloni and Sérgio Guizé posted tributes. Funeral arrangements were initially undefined. Rede TVT later reported that he was cremated in São Paulo. No cemetery plot has been published.

Marisa Orth's tribute called him an immense actor and a superb comedian, the funniest of them, and also called him antifascist, saying he spoke out in public. That post tied his memory to São Paulo politics and drew criticism for mixing mourning with a campaign endorsement. Those political lines are Orth's tribute, not a verified platform statement from Facchini himself. No major national acting prize was consistently listed in the death packages reviewed. The Bibi Ferreira announcement still placed him inside Brazilian theatre culture. For many viewers he remains Luís of the Silva family, the face of a generation's Rá-Tim-Bum.
