Yadi Timo, whose real name was Yadi Mulyadi, was an Indonesian film and television actor and theatre artist whose screen career ran for three decades. He was best remembered as Mastur, one of the bumbling kidnappers in the classic children's musical Petualangan Sherina (2000), and to television audiences as a familiar face in dozens of sinetron, often playing sly antagonists or long-suffering fathers. He died on 16 October 2026, aged 66.
Born on 12 February 1960, he trained in theatre at the Institut Kesenian Jakarta (IKJ), graduating from the theatre department of its Faculty of Performing Arts. The stage stayed at the heart of his work. Colleagues remembered him as a demanding senior who argued through the night about acting and directing, gave sharp and sometimes painful criticism, and quietly helped younger artists find their way into the industry.
His television career began in the mid 1990s with series such as 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan, Jin & Jun and Doaku Harapanku, and he played Mardikun in the first season of the Ramadan series Lorong Waktu. In Riri Riza's Petualangan Sherina, produced by Mira Lesmana for Miles Films, he played Mastur alongside Butet Kertaradjasa as the gang leader Pak Raden, a role that made him recognisable to a generation of Indonesian children. Further films followed, including Petualangan 100 Jam, Rindu Kami PadaMu and Brownies in 2004, Banyu Biru in 2005 and Marley in 2022.
On television he worked almost without pause, appearing in Kisah Sedih di Hari Minggu, Bajaj Baru Bajuri, Buku Harian Nayla, Putri yang Ditukar, Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the Series, Catatan Hati Seorang Istri, Go BMX, Dewi Rindu, Ikatan Cinta and Ketika Cinta Memanggilmu, among many others. Indonesian media noted that he became closely identified with antagonistic, cunning characters and with fathers burdened by hardship.
On the evening of Thursday 15 October 2026 he attended a creative meeting to prepare a short film with the director Gita Asmara, where friends said he seemed healthy and was singing and joking. After returning home he complained of severe stomach pain and was rushed toward Grand Melia hospital in Cibubur, but died on the way. The news was shared on Friday 16 October by the screenwriter and director Joko Nugroho, a friend from his student days, and the cause of death was not officially confirmed. His body lay at his home in Pondok Cibubur, Depok, and burial was planned at the Taman Bahagia Dredet cemetery in Bogor, his wife's home town.
