Yury Tsyhalka was a Belarusian football goalkeeper who came through the academy of Dinamo Minsk, won the Belarusian championship with the club in 2004, earned three caps for the Belarus national team and later spent four seasons as a dependable keeper at Shakhtyor Soligorsk. He died on the night of 22 October 2026 in Belarus, aged 43. His death was reported the same day by football.by and Betnews; no cause was made public.

He was born on 27 May 1983 in Minsk, one of twin brothers. His twin, Maksim Tsyhalka, became a forward and also played for Belarus, and the two grew up in the game together, training from the age of five. Yury stood 1.89 metres tall and settled early into goal.

He made his senior debut for Dinamo Minsk in 2000 and played 61 league matches for the club over six seasons, with spells on loan at Dinamo-Yuni and at Vostok in Kazakhstan. He was part of the Dinamo squad that won the Belarusian Premier League title in 2004, and football.by credited him with two Belarusian Cup wins across his career, one with Dinamo and one with Shakhtyor. He played for the Belarus under 21 side from 2002 to 2004, including at the European Under 21 Championship finals in Germany, and won three senior caps for Belarus in 2002 and 2003.

After leaving Minsk he kept goal for Dinamo Brest in 2006 and 2007, then moved abroad to Romania, where he played for clubs in Ramnicu Valcea, for Pandurii Targu Jiu and for Energia Rovinari during 2008 and 2009. He returned for a second spell at Vostok in 2009 before joining Shakhtyor Soligorsk in 2010. At Soligorsk he made around 100 league appearances, collecting several silver medals as the club challenged at the top of the Belarusian league. Injury forced him to retire in January 2014, aged 30.

His brother Maksim died in 2020, aged 37. In an interview published in December 2025 Yury spoke openly about the difficulty Maksim had in accepting the end of his playing career, about the drinking that both brothers admitted to, and about the heart condition that killed him, saying the family had found it hard to understand and accept.

With a league title, cup wins and international caps, he and Maksim remain one of the few sets of twins to have both played for the Belarus national team.
