I was literally reading Vol de cendres last night before bed, had picked it up after a trip to Lleida years ago, and this morning there's the news. Didn't know much about him beyond that one book but it stayed with me the way few things do when you're far from home and don't even speak the language well. 79 years old. Strange to feel this shaken over a poet I only ever knew through a translation.

My father used to catch Redner's public access show with Luke Lirot on the satellite dish we had in Mobile, First Amendment stuff mostly, and he'd shout at the TV half agreeing with him. He always said dance is speech like it was the simplest thing in the world. 86 years old, that's a full life fighting for something.
