I only found out about him this year, researching before a trip to South Sudan, and picked up the book he did with his wife, Sudan: The Land and the People. The photos stayed with me more than any article could have. 82 is a full life but I wish I'd known his name sooner.

My mom called me this morning, I'm in Lisbon for work and she said she saw it on a Puerto Rico page and thought of our trip. We went to one of those free concerts at the Muñoz Marín Foundation a few years back, just wandered in, and it ended up being one of my favorite nights there. Didn't know his name then but I know it now. Sending love to his family.
