my mum sent me the obituary this morning, said reading it made her cry over coffee. 100 years old, married 63 of them to the same man. that's the whole story right there.

85. Watched the Lexus commercials as a kid without ever knowing his name till now.
For Seppo Lindblom · 18 Sept 2026
My grandfather kept a shelf of books on the Nordic economies, and Lindblom's name was all through the one on Koivisto. I read it curled up on his couch one winter, had no idea I'd still remember the name decades later. Strange to see it in an obituary now.
For Cal Nichols · 12 Sept 2026
My dad grew up in Edmonton and took me to see the Oilers play when I was little. He always said Cal Nichols was the reason we still had a team. Rest well, sir.

Watched clips of Sábados Felices online and couldn't stop laughing, even though my Spanish isn't perfect. His warmth came through anyway. Rest easy, sir.

Read about his work in agriculture and how he built things that lasted. Not just farms but places where people could live with some hope. That matters.
For Iwan Setiawan · 3 Sept 2026
My dad used to say Iwan Setiawan was the kind of coach who made you want to play better. Heard the news this morning and it hit different. Prayers for his family.
For Monty Roberts · 28 Aug 2026
His whole philosophy was rooted in dignity. For humans and horses both. That struck me as deeply Christian even though I don't think he framed it that way. Rest well, sir.

My dad played Let's Straighten It Out so many times I knew every word before I understood what they meant. Then one day I did and it all made sense. Grateful for that.

Read that he valued silence and just letting the work speak. In a world that won't shut up, there's something beautiful about that.

That's the real legacy, isn't it. Taking care of your own.
