My mom called me about this, I'm out here in Madrid and she just said "Lamont died" and I knew exactly who she meant before she said the last name. Sanford and Son was always on at my grandparents' house growing up. 79 years old, Vietnam vet, Army, 4th Infantry, then he just walked away from Hollywood to preach. Not many people actually do that.

My dad saw the headline and just sat there for a second, said Young was one of those guys nobody wanted to catch a pass in front of. I only really know him from a few old Seahawks clips that get passed around online, the hits look brutal even now. Strange to think a guy from footage like that was only 64.

He worked with Melville and Visconti and Godard. Acted in seven countries. Lived long enough to see Ukraine give him their Order of Merit. That's a life that mattered.
