My mom had Shakespeare in Love on VHS and we must have watched it fifty times at our kitchen table in Grand Rapids while she ironed. I didn't even know his name back then, just that line about the play going well, nobody knows why, it always does. 88 is a long life. Thank you for that one.

I just read an old piece about him explaining the Finger Lakes with that little glacier model at the Museum of the Earth. My kids loved that exhibit. 90 years old, gone. Praying for his family tonight.

Never knew the man, just his voice on a Vaughan Williams recording my choir director played every Advent. The obituary said he had a warm, appealing tonal quality, and that's exactly right, that's the whole thing.
