David Z was working right up until he retired last year. That's a lifetime in the studio. The Minneapolis Sound doesn't exist without him, and neither does half the music I grew up with.

Saw him speak at a youth conference in Chicago about HIV testing when I was in high school. He was so straightforward about it, no shame, just real talk. Thirty-four is way too young. Rest well, King Oyo.

She was acting professionally before I was even born. Incredible range, from kid shows to serious drama. Spyral was her last project and it was great. Really sad.
