so I saw this come up on my feed this morning while I was getting the kids ready for school and I had to sit down for a second, I don't really follow French news but I watched this documentary a few years back about the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 79 and his name was all over it, the way they talked about him on that show made him sound like something out of a movie, I don't know much else about the guy honestly, there's a lot of complicated stuff in there I don't fully understand about Rwanda and the stuff with the Irish guys in Vincennes, I'm not going to pretend I know the whole story, but that one documentary stuck with me for some reason and I thought about it randomly a couple times over the years, anyway, 80 years old, that's a long life. edit: looked it up again just now, 1979, yeah that's the one I remembered right

My mom called me about this at 6am my time and I just sat there on the phone not knowing what to say. She was twelve. Villa Rica, Georgia, a bus stop argument that should have ended with everyone going home. I keep thinking about her mother.
