I only found A Family in Dongbei this past winter, watched it late at night with subtitles, and now I read that Peng Yu has died at 92. Her Chen Jiuxiang felt like somebody's actual grandmother.

My mother called this morning to tell me, she'd seen it on the news before I was even awake here. I only know his work through Charles II, which we watched together every Sunday when I was in school. Strange to be an ocean away and still feel it.
