I only saw her once on a DVD of the Kleiber Traviata, but I understood right then what real acting in opera meant. She was Violetta, not performing being Violetta. That matters so much.

I read about her work preserving Franco-Manitoban literature and the Gabrielle Roy house. At 101, still thinking about future projects. That kind of dedication to heritage is rare and necessary.
