found a grainy clip of that 1972 Sarpsborg match years ago while I was deep in a Norwegian football rabbit hole and never forgot the penalty save from Jan Aas. Watched it again last night after reading he'd died, strange how a stranger from Haugesund ended up in my head for so long.

85 years old. I only learned his name through a business class clip online but that line about pursuing opportunity beyond your resources stuck with me for years. Thinking of his wife Fredi and the rest of the family right now.

so i was in toronto for like four days this summer just wandering around looking at old buildings and i stopped in this little shop that sold vintage sports stuff, not really my thing but the guy there had a hockey card wall and there was one for ron hurst, said he played right wing for the leafs in the 50s, and i didnt think about it again until i saw today he died at 95, the oldest living leaf apparently, and i dont know why but it stuck with me that i was literally looking at his card a few months ago not knowing anything about him, just a name and a number, anyway rest well Ron. edit: found out he only played 64 games total but people still knew who he was 70 years later, thats wild to me

I only saw her once on a DVD of the Kleiber Traviata, but I understood right then what real acting in opera meant. She was Violetta, not performing being Violetta. That matters so much.
