My uncle got his first real job through Baker Industries back in the nineties, after nothing else stuck for him. I remember my dad reading the Inquirer piece out loud at the kitchen table, the one where Baker says they started in a garage in Strafford with his own son as the first hire. 101 years old. That's a whole century of deciding people deserve work.

My mom texted me a screenshot of the WNEM tribute before I'd even seen the news, just his name and "he did my weather for twenty years." I only know him from a clip someone posted of him laughing on air back in the 90s, but she called him Eric like they were neighbors.
