For David Rigert · 4d ago

My dad had the Montreal Olympics on in our living room in 1976 and he pointed at the screen and said watch this Russian, nobody moves a bar like that. I didn't understand weightlifting at eleven but I understood the sound of a stadium going quiet.

For André Brasilier · 29 Sept 2026

My mother had a print of one of his horse paintings hanging in the living room my whole childhood, blues and golds and that dreamy motion. I didn't know his name until years later when I saw the Hermitage show mentioned in a magazine. 96 years old, still working. That painting is still on my wall now.

For Viktor Anuškevičius · 15 Sept 2026

Started with his own business in the early days when it was all uncertain, then gave his time to the city for nearly a decade. That takes conviction.

For Tom Petty · 4 Aug 2025

Grew up on Free Fallin' and American Girl. Those songs were the soundtrack to so much of my life. He was a real musician, not manufactured. We lost something important.
