64 is no age at all. Hoping Tina and the kids are being looked after right now.

my mom called me the second she saw it and just said "Matti Caspi died" like I was supposed to drop everything. I didn't grow up on his music, honestly only know him from a Brit Olam clip that kept showing up on my feed last year, but watching her face while she told me, that's when it hit how big this is over there. 76. she's been playing it on repeat since this morning.

my dad texted me a photo of his wrist x-ray from like 2009, said "that little screw in there has a name and the guy just died." wild that something that small fixed that many broken wrists

my mum called to tell me, she always liked that he refused to work sundays no matter who asked. 99 years old. that's a whole century of saying no to things.

My grandad went the same way, just the body deciding it's done, no drama. Weird to feel that again reading about a stranger. He sang the first two lines of You Are the Sunshine of My Life, I looked it up to be sure, then just sat there for a minute.

told my dad and he just went quiet and said "that's the Fastnet guy" like it explained everything. didn't know sailing books could hit someone that hard

Saw this pop up on my phone during lunch break and almost scrolled past, the name confusion with that other Garrow case nearly made me skip it. Glad I didn't. Eighty five years old, Air Force, forty some years at the gas company in Hartford. Just an ordinary good life, and somehow that hit harder than I expected.

My cousin in St. Louis grew up going to Herbert Hoover, said Mr. Jones knew every kid's name in the gym. She called me crying when I was watering my tomatoes out here in California. That lemonade out of lemons line she used to repeat, guess it came from him.

found All in the Family on a rerun channel two years ago, felt like watching dispatches from a country I'd never lived in. Archie Bunker yelling in that chair taught me more about 1971 than any textbook did. 101 years, that's a whole century of arguing with the television.

Just listened to an old interview of his a few weeks back, still sharp, joking about writing his last footnote. Didn't think it'd be this soon.
