Didn't expect to feel this hit so hard for someone I only knew through a Wikipedia rabbit hole last week. I'd just been reading about The Last Visitor and how it was one of the most staged plays in the whole USSR in 86, then saw this morning he'd died at 87. Wild that a poet ended up one of the deputies who actually voted for Latvia's independence in 1990.
