Adrian Brown, known to friends and fans as Dre, was a 34 year old musician from Moss Side, Manchester, who was killed in a stabbing outside a community club in his home neighbourhood in May 2026. He was not a nationally famous performer, but he was well known and well liked within the Moss Side community, where he had built a local reputation through his music, and his death became national news because of the scale of the police response it triggered.
Adrian was described by those who knew him as a kind, easygoing presence who was devoted to his family. He was the partner of Tamia Zameer, with whom he had three children, and those who paid tribute to him online remembered him as a loyal friend and a proud father who adored his sons. His mother, Jennifer Meade, said publicly that he was a loving son, brother, uncle and boyfriend who adored being a dad.
On the night of Friday 8 May 2026, Adrian had been at the West Indian Sports and Social Club in Moss Side, where around 200 people were present. Shortly after 11pm, he was attacked on Raby Street, a short distance from the club, and suffered stab wounds to the chest. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later. Greater Manchester Police described it as a targeted and shocking act of violence.
The killing mattered beyond Moss Side because it exposed how quickly a single, violent attack outside a packed community event can ripple through a neighbourhood, prompting a large criminal investigation, repeated arrests, and public appeals to the hundreds of witnesses who had been at the club that night. Adrian's case also became a focal point for a community that has repeatedly had to grieve young and middle aged men lost to knife violence.
Greater Manchester Police launched a murder investigation within hours and arrested an 18 year old man the following day. Over the following week, further arrests followed in quick succession, including a 24 year old man, two men in their mid twenties and thirties, a 26 year old woman, a 17 year old boy and another 18 year old man, bringing the total number of people arrested to eight, with most later released on bail while the investigation continued. As of early November 2026, nearly six months after the attack, police confirmed that three more people had been arrested in connection with the case, a sign that the investigation remains active and unresolved.
Adrian's family has said they intend to see the investigation through to a conclusion and that his memory will endure for his children and loved ones. No trial date, verdict or funeral details had been made public by the time of writing, and several aspects of the case, including the precise motive for the attack, remain under investigation.
