Honestly I don't know what to say. I heard Eylulde Gel for the first time on some late night documentary about Turkish pop and never forgot it, that's all I've got.

Ahmet Alpay Nazikioglu, known professionally as Alpay, was a Turkish singer and songwriter whose romantic pop songs, including Eylulde Gel and Fabrika Kizi, became standards for generations of listeners. He died on 14 October 2026 at the age of 91 while receiving hospital treatment in Antalya.
Alpay was born in Ankara on 17 July 1935. He grew up in the capital, completed school there and played football for Ankara Demirspor and then Genclerbirligi, earning a place in Turkiye's youth national team. His father worked for many years as a State Railways bureaucrat; his mother was active in party administration. At his father's urging he studied law at Ankara University, graduating from the Faculty of Law before turning fully to music.
He began performing in the early 1960s. A 1962 single, Norma Mia, brought wider notice, and concerts with the group Arkadaslar helped establish him on stage. He formed his own band in 1964. Over six decades he moved between romantic folk, pop and rock, adapted French chansons and Italian Neapolitan songs into Turkish, collaborated with the band Uc Hurel, and recorded roughly twenty five albums. Hits such as Kara Tren, Tren, Eylulde Gel and Fabrika Kizi fixed him in public memory. Fabrika Kizi was among the defining Turkish pop hits of 1970. He also set poems by Attila Ilhan to music, worked closely with arranger Fecri Ebcioğlu, and later wrote Ethem'in Sessiz Cigligi in memory of Ethem Sarisuluk, killed during the Gezi Park protests. Into old age he remained a familiar stage presence.
In later years he lived much of the time in Gundogan, Bodrum, with his wife, and he spent periods in Antalya for medical care. In 2024 he spoke publicly about his long career and about managing health problems. Two years before his death he welcomed an Anadolu Agency team at home for a project on respected senior figures in Turkiye.
Turkish media reported that he died at Medical Park Antalya Hospital after a period of treatment for age related illness and organ failure. Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci offered public condolences on behalf of the town, and funeral arrangements were made for burial in Gundogan. Musicians including Bora Gencer and listeners across Turkiye remembered him as one of the defining voices of Turkish pop, a performer whose catalogue still circulates widely decades after his first records.
