Born 1945-09-24 (Guangdong per Wikipedia/TMDB; Hong Kong Film Archive says Guangdong native born in Hong Kong). From about age nine, pupil of Chan Sau Chung in Tai Sing Pek Kwar (monkey and axe-hammer style). Attended Pui Kiu Middle School; strong in javelin and soccer. Graduated secondary school 1963; became a firefighter until leaving around 1967 after a 1967 riots bomb incident he later described in interviews.
