Cico Harahap, born Ezzaq Farrouq Harahap Jamaludin on 7 July 1978, was a Malaysian actor and singer who grew up in the spotlight as the son of the legendary singer and actress Uji Rashid. He became a familiar face to a generation of Malaysian filmgoers and television viewers from the 1990s onward, best remembered for playing Zulkifli in the films Puteri Impian (1997) and Puteri Impian 2 (1998), and Saiful in the comedy Anak Mami The Movie (2002). He died at Ampang Hospital, Selangor, on 8 November 2026, aged 48.

His father was Jamaluddin Jalil Harahap, and his mother, born Fuziah binti Haroun Al Rashid, was one of the best known Malaysian entertainers of the 1970s and 1980s. Cico was of Batak and Malay descent, which is why he was often described as a Malay-Indonesian actor. He began acting as a teenager, making his screen debut in the 1993 Malaysian film Kekasih Awal dan Akhir, in which he played the young Yusman.

Wide recognition came with Puteri Impian and its sequel in the late 1990s. In the early 2000s he became a regular in the films of director A. Razak Mohaideen, appearing in Anak Mami The Movie and Mami Jarum in 2002 and Mistik and Jutawan Fakir in 2003. Other film work included Gila Bola (2003), Kuliah Cinta (2004), Cinta Fotokopi, Potret Mistik and Anak Mami Kembali (all 2005), Cinta U-Turn (2008), a special appearance in Ratu The Movie (2011), Bujang Telajak (2012) and Dollah Superstar (2014). On television he appeared in the drama Fakulti on TV2 (2001), played Hang Tuah in Pendekar 5 on TV9 (2007), and acted in the TV3 dramas Ezora (2008), Jiwa (2014) and Budak Magik (2016). He also sang, and a 1999 album titled Cico included the song Di Bawah Rimbunan Cinta.

In February 2008 he married Nur Fuziani Abdullah in Songkhla, Thailand. The couple had a daughter, Rindu Nur Fitrah, and divorced in 2010. Cico raised his daughter as a single father, and in a 2016 interview with mStar he compared their life together to the way his own mother had raised him. At that time he said he had never intended to retire from acting, but that his screen work had slowed because he was busy with a health and beauty business and worked as a personal fitness trainer for scuba activities on Malaysian islands.

His life changed on the night of 25 December 2016. According to his mother, he went out to meet friends and was later left at the door of the family home, from where he crawled inside. Uji Rashid said she understood that something had been put into his drink, and that his mobile phone had been destroyed with acid. For the first month afterwards he could not recognise himself, his mother or his daughter, and he lost his voice. He was treated in hospital and also underwent Islamic healing, with help from the actor Ashraf Muslim among others. Uji Rashid declined to accuse anyone and left the matter to the authorities. Cico recovered slowly, but lasting difficulties with speech, reading and writing ended his acting career, and he was reported to have retired from television in 2017.

In April 2024 his friend, the singer Salimey, revealed that Cico had been treated at Ampang Hospital for heart problems that caused swelling in his legs, and that he had no income because producers would not hire him with his speech difficulties. Later reports said he relied heavily on his mother and on assistance from artistes' associations including Persatuan Seniman Malaysia. In 2025 fans were cheered to see him healthier, exercising, going to the gym and hosting near daily TikTok live sessions, where he patiently answered the question most people asked him: whether he would ever act again. His usual reply was "InsyaAllah".

In early November 2026 he was admitted to Ampang Hospital with breathing difficulties. He was first treated in the intensive care unit and moved to a general ward on Thursday 5 November. He died there at about 11am on Sunday 8 November 2026. The death was confirmed by Sandakiah Azez, president of the Malaysian Veteran Artistes Welfare Association (PKAVM), who said the cause of death had not yet been determined. Funeral prayers were arranged at Bukit Antarabangsa, with burial planned at the Ukay Perdana Muslim cemetery in Ampang, Selangor.

Paying tribute, A. Razak Mohaideen remembered him as a gifted, disciplined and professional actor who respected others and always gave his full cooperation on set. Cico Harahap is survived by his mother Uji Rashid and his daughter Rindu Nur Fitrah.
