Disha Salian was an Indian celebrity talent manager who spent most of her career behind the scenes of Bollywood and Indian television, arranging schedules, endorsements and media commitments for well known actors and comedians. She was best known for having worked, for a period, as manager to the actor Sushant Singh Rajput, a connection that would later place her name at the centre of one of India's most closely watched celebrity death controversies.
Born on 26 May 1992 in Udupi, Karnataka, and raised largely in Mumbai, Salian studied mass communication after her schooling at Dadar Parsi Youths Assembly High School. She began her career as a freelance reporter before moving into talent management, working with agencies including Cornerstone Sport and Entertainment and KWAN, and she managed the public and professional affairs of stars such as Bharti Singh and Varun Sharma in addition to her work with Rajput.
Salian died on 8 June 2020 at the age of 28, after falling from the 14th floor of the Galaxy Regent residential building in Malad, Mumbai. Mumbai Police initially treated the death as an accidental death, and a subsequent Special Investigation Team affidavit filed in the Bombay High Court concluded that she had taken her own life amid mental stress connected to failed business dealings. Her death drew intense national attention because it occurred only six days before Rajput was found dead at his own Mumbai residence, and speculation about a link between the two deaths has persisted in Indian media and online discourse ever since, even though the two cases were investigated separately and no official link between them has ever been established.
Her father, Satish Salian, never accepted the official finding and spent years petitioning courts for a fresh, independent investigation, alleging that his daughter's death was not properly probed and naming several public figures in his complaints, most prominently the politician Aaditya Thackeray. Those named have consistently denied any involvement and have described the allegations as politically motivated.
The case, largely dormant for years, returned to the centre of Indian news in September 2026. On 2 September 2026 the Bombay High Court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to take up the matter, and the CBI registered a formal First Information Report on 14 September 2026 based on Satish Salian's allegations, naming several individuals including Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi as persons whose conduct would be examined. Officials have stressed that being named in an FIR is only the starting point of an investigation and does not establish guilt. The reopening has reignited public debate, political sparring in Maharashtra, and a wave of searches from people trying to understand who Disha Salian was and what, if anything, has actually been established about how she died.
