Eric Bauza was a Canadian voice actor and comedian who became the modern voice of the Looney Tunes. Over more than two decades he voiced Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety, Marvin the Martian and many other classic characters, and won three Emmy Awards for that work.

Bauza was born on 7 December 1979 in Scarborough, a suburban district of Toronto, and was of Filipino descent. His father and grandfather loved classic cartoons, and he said that drawing along with the host of the children's programme Mr. Dressup first sparked his creative side. He attended Cardinal Newman Catholic High School in Scarborough and graduated from Centennial College in 2000.

During his third year of college he interned at the animation studio Spumco, where he became a production assistant and landed his first voice role on The Ripping Friends. His breakthrough came when he took over the role of Stimpy from Billy West on Ren and Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon". He went on to voice Lord Stingray on Superjail!, Marvin the Martian on The Looney Tunes Show, Dr. Psychobos on Ben 10: Omniverse, Buhdeuce on Breadwinners, the title role in Netflix's The Adventures of Puss in Boots and Baby Fozzie on Muppet Babies. He also performed stand-up comedy at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles.

Bauza gradually became the principal voice of the Looney Tunes cast. For Looney Tunes Cartoons he won the first Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice Performance in an Animated Program, and he won further Emmys for Bugs Bunny Builders and Teen Titans Go!. He voiced Buster Bunny in Tiny Toons Looniversity, took over Big Bob Belcher and Jimmy Pesto Sr. on Bob's Burgers, and hosted the CBC Gem documentary series Stay Tooned. He was a vocal champion of the shelved film Coyote vs. Acme, famously calling for its release as Bugs and Daffy on stage at the 2024 Annie Awards. When the film finally reached cinemas in 2026, he voiced ten characters in it, including his first feature performance as Bugs Bunny.

Eric Bauza died suddenly on 25 October 2026, aged 46. His family announced his death on his Instagram account, saying more details would follow. No cause of death was made public, and fans and colleagues paid tribute to the performer who had kept the voices of their childhood alive.

Legacy

Bauza is remembered as the performer who carried the voices created by Mel Blanc into a new century, keeping Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and their friends familiar to a new generation of children. His campaign for Coyote vs. Acme, and the film's eventual release, made him one of the few voice actors whose face became known to the wider public.
