Erik Brown

Erik Brown was a Canadian technical and cave diver from Langley, British Columbia, who became known around the world in July 2018 as one of the volunteer specialists who helped rescue twelve boys and their football coach from the flooded Tham Luang cave complex in northern Thailand. <cite index="1-3">He helped rescue 12 boys from Thailand's Tham Luang cave in 2018.</cite> The rescue, which gripped a global television audience for more than two weeks, required elite cave divers to guide the trapped Wild Boars football team through kilometres of flooded, pitch black passages, and Brown was one of the foreign specialists who travelled to Thailand to help with that effort.

He was later honoured with a Silver Medal for Bravery from the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia in recognition of his role in the operation, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau publicly thanked him, saying he had made Canadians proud.
