Esnobie de Guzman was a private Filipino woman who became known to the public primarily through her daughter, the singer and television personality Klarisse de Guzman. She was not a public figure in her own right and had no career in entertainment, politics or business that drew independent news coverage. What little the public knew of her came from her daughter's interviews, social media posts and television appearances, in which Klarisse frequently spoke of her mother with affection and described her as a steady presence throughout her career.

Esnobie de Guzman's name entered wider public conversation in April 2025, when Klarisse publicly discussed her sexuality during her run on the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition. At the time, reports described Esnobie as proud of her daughter and supportive of the disclosure, with network coverage noting that she welcomed the fact that Klarisse no longer had to hide part of herself. That moment made her, briefly, a sympathetic figure to fans who praised her for standing by her daughter at a vulnerable time.

In the months before her death, Klarisse's public statements suggested her mother had been dealing with a serious health situation. Klarisse missed a scheduled live appearance in mid October 2026 because of what was described as a family emergency, and days before her mother died she wrote on her Instagram broadcast channel that she felt numb and frightened, asking followers to pray for her mother. Those posts, though short, signalled to fans that Esnobie's condition had become critical.

Esnobie de Guzman died on October 24, 2026. Her daughter announced the death on Instagram with a black and white photograph taken in a hospital room, writing an emotional farewell in Filipino telling her mother she loved her and asking her to embrace her late father in the afterlife. The phrasing of that message, which referenced a 'Papa', suggested that Klarisse's father had already died and that mother and daughter had been especially close as a result.

News of the death prompted an immediate wave of condolences from the Philippine entertainment industry. Singer and television host Gary Valenciano and former Pinoy Big Brother housemates including Shuvee Etrata, Will Ashley, AZ Martinez and River Joseph were among those who left public messages of sympathy for Klarisse. As of the time of her death being reported, Klarisse had not disclosed the cause of her mother's death or shared details of funeral or wake arrangements, and no further information had been made public.

Esnobie de Guzman will be remembered not for a public career but for the role she played in her daughter's life, as a mother who stood visibly and vocally behind Klarisse de Guzman through the highs of a singing career and the vulnerability of a very public coming out. Her death leaves a gap that her daughter and the wider Kapamilya entertainment community have been mourning openly in the hours since it was announced.

I found Klarisse's covers on YouTube back in 2019, just random late night searching, and somehow her mom became part of the story too. I remember that clip from PBB last year, her mom saying she was proud and that Klarisse didn't have to hide anymore. Saw the photo Klarisse posted today in the hospital room and just sat with my coffee not knowing what to do with myself.

Esnobie de Guzman died on October 24, 2026, in the Philippines, according to an announcement made by her daughter, singer Klarisse de Guzman, on Instagram that same day. Klarisse shared a black and white photograph taken in a hospital room showing herself with her mother in what she described as her mother's final moments, writing in Filipino that she loved her deeply and asking her to embrace her late father. No hospital or city was named in the announcement, and as of this writing the exact cause of death had not been made public.

The death followed what appeared to be a rapid and frightening decline. Four days earlier, on October 20, Klarisse had posted on her Instagram broadcast channel that she felt numb and scared, asking her followers to include her mother in their prayers. Around the same time, Star Magic, the talent agency that manages Klarisse, announced that she would miss a scheduled appearance on The Funalo Show LIVE because of a family emergency, signalling that her mother's condition had become serious enough to require her full attention.

Klarisse's announcement drew an immediate outpouring of sympathy from within the Philippine entertainment industry. Singer and television host Gary Valenciano wrote a message of support and love for Klarisse, while former Pinoy Big Brother housemates Shuvee Etrata, Will Ashley, AZ Martinez and River Joseph were among those who posted condolences beneath the tribute. News outlets including GMA Network and the Manila Times picked up the story within hours of the Instagram post, reporting that Klarisse had not yet disclosed how her mother died.

No details of a wake, funeral Mass or burial had been announced publicly as of the time of writing. Reports noted explicitly that Klarisse had not shared such arrangements, and it is expected that further information, including any memorial plans, will be announced by the family once they are ready.
