My abuela had TN on every morning when we stayed with her in Buenos Aires each January and he was always there before the Boca scores, telling you if it would rain. I didn't even understand half the words at eight years old but I understood his hands moving over the map. Que descanse en paz, Confe.

Fernando Confessore was an Argentine meteorologist, broadcaster and science communicator who presented the weather on the news channel Todo Noticias (TN) for three decades. Known to colleagues as "Confe", he joined the channel in December 1995 and became one of the most familiar faces of television weather forecasting in Argentina, also appearing on El Trece. He died suddenly at his home in Buenos Aires in the early hours of 16 October 2026, aged 58.
He was born in Buenos Aires on 18 July 1968. His first training was in aviation: he studied to become an aircraft dispatcher at the National Institute of Civil Aviation, then part of the Argentine Air Force, and obtained a radiotelephone operator's licence. In 1992 he graduated from the University of Buenos Aires as a university meteorological forecaster, and from 1992 to 1994 he worked at the National Meteorological Service, receiving and interpreting satellite images and taking courses in cloud analysis and aeronautical meteorology.
In December 1995 he joined the meteorology team of Artear, the company behind TN and El Trece. From 1997 he was the weather columnist and presenter on TN's early morning news and on El noticiero de Santo on El Trece, and he also ran the weather segment of TN Agro for farmers. In November 2000 he took a World Meteorological Organization course on science communication in the media, and he became known for explaining the weather in plain language. On radio he was a columnist on Fernando Carnota's programme on Radio La Red, and in 2006 he co-wrote Meteorología para todos with Mauricio Saldívar. In his last years he presented the weather in TN's midday programmes. He also taught meteorology to aircrew trainees at the aeronautical school at Morón Air Base, where he had once studied.
Confessore kept his private life out of the public eye. He was married to Paula, with whom he had three daughters, and colleagues remembered him as a devoted family man and a passionate Boca Juniors supporter. His last weather forecast was on 15 October 2026, on the afternoon programme Nuestra Tarde, where he joked with a colleague that he was always present.
He was taken ill suddenly at home in the Versalles district of Buenos Aires at about 3 a.m. on 16 October. His wife called the emergency services, but police and paramedics were unable to revive him. His family said he had suffered a heart attack. Mario Massaccesi announced the death on TN at 6.50 a.m., saying the man viewers had seen on the channel for 30 years had died. The meteorologist Matías Bertolotti called him a mentor who had brought weather forecasting to a mass television audience. His wake was arranged for 17 October in Buenos Aires, followed by burial at La Chacarita Cemetery.
