Güliz Kucur was a Turkish television screenwriter whose credits include some of the most widely watched family dramas and comedies of the 1990s and 2000s. Born in İzmir around 1965, she studied cinema, television and photography at Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts before turning fully to screenwriting. That grounding in image and narrative helped her move quickly into an industry that was expanding as private channels transformed Turkish prime time viewing. Over the next two decades she helped write series that became part of the shared memory of Turkish television, among them Süper Baba, İkinci Bahar, Deli Yürek, Aynalı Tahir, Yabancı Damat and Aliye.
Colleagues and viewers remembered her for clear storytelling and an instinct for characters that felt close to everyday life. Yabancı Damat and Aliye in particular reached huge audiences and continue to be cited among the defining Turkish television dramas of their era, mixing family conflict, romance and humour in a way that travelled well beyond a single season's ratings. She also worked on Son Söz Sevginin, Babam ve Biz, Seni Yaşatacağım, Alacakaranlık, Tatlı Bela Fadime, Son Ağa and Küstüm Çiçeği, moving across family comedy, romance and action with a steady professional craft. On several projects, including Deli Yürek and İkinci Bahar, she contributed treatment work as well as finished scripts, which placed her inside the early shaping of those shows as well as their dialogue.
Away from the set she was known as an animal lover, a note repeated in many of the tributes that followed her death. She kept a relatively low personal profile compared with the fame of the series she wrote, and public coverage focused on her professional body of work rather than private detail. She died on 6 November 2026 at the age of 61. No official cause of death was made public, though some reports noted that she had previously undergone cancer treatment without confirming a connection. FilmSan Vakfı issued a condolence statement asking for God's mercy for her and offering strength to her family and those who loved her. Her funeral was arranged for 7 November after the noon prayer at Hacı Sarıgül Camii, with burial at Bahçeköy Mezarlığı. Her scripts remain among the benchmarks of mainstream Turkish television drama, and her name still surfaces whenever writers and viewers talk about the generation of diziler that defined an era of evening viewing.
