Brigadier General Hossein Zarifi spent the majority of his life within the ranks of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Rising to a senior leadership position, he became a central figure in managing the complex and volatile security landscape of southeastern Iran, particularly within the Sistan and Baluchestan province. For more than a decade, Zarifi directed operational strategy in these rugged borderlands. His command focused on securing remote territories, countering armed insurgent groups, and overseeing tactical operations aimed at maintaining state control in high-risk zones.
His career culminated in the field during a direct confrontation with an armed group in Saravan County. Brigadier General Zarifi was killed in action during the clash on September 24, 2026.
