Jeffrey DeWitt Stark, known professionally as Jeffrey D. Stark, was a Christian counselor who spent more than four decades helping individuals, couples, and families in the Philadelphia and Wilmington areas work through personal, marital, and family struggles through a faith based approach to counseling. He was best known as the founder and longtime director of the Life Enrichment Christian Counseling Center (LECCC), a practice he built into a trusted resource for churches and families across southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Stark was born on July 23, 1951, in Denver, Colorado, and was raised in Columbus, Ohio, where he was a standout athlete at Upper Arlington High School, playing football, baseball, and basketball. He went on to play college football at the College of Wooster in Ohio. After college he moved to the Philadelphia area, where he eventually enrolled at Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania, earning a Master of Divinity degree that set him on the path to a career in biblical counseling.
His counseling career began in the early 1980s, when he worked as a staff counselor with the Christian Counseling and Educational Center. By the late 1980s he had founded his own practice, the Life Enrichment Christian Counseling Center, which operated offices in both Glenside, Pennsylvania, and Wilmington, Delaware. Over more than 45 years running the center, he counseled on a wide range of individual, marital, and family issues, and he was a regular speaker at Christian retreats and conferences. He also worked to extend his influence beyond his own practice, training and equipping local churches through a program known as The Gospel Seminar. Alongside his counseling work, he served for many years as a longtime member and Elder at New Life Presbyterian Church in Dresher, Pennsylvania.
Stark was married to Donna (Doyle) Stark for 46 years and was the father of four children. He died on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Glenside, Pennsylvania, at the age of 75. News of his death was first shared through a funeral home notice and local obituary, and it was reported by the community news outlet Glenside Local, which described him as the founder and longtime director of the counseling center he had led for decades. No cause of death has been made public.
Tributes to Stark have focused on his decades of quiet, steady service to families in his community, both through his counseling practice and through his role as a church elder. He is remembered by those who knew him as someone who devoted his working life to helping others navigate difficult personal and family circumstances through a faith centered approach.
