María Alicia Delgado was a Mexican actress and comedian whose career on Televisa stretched across more than four decades. She was best known for ¡Anabel!, the sketch comedy show led by Anabel Ferreira, and for the forgetful old woman Alz she played alongside Eugenio Derbez. She died in Mexico City on 4 November 2026, aged 77.

Delgado was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, in March 1949. For years she performed on stage in Monterrey and in Oaxaca, and it was a staff member at Televisa's Oaxaca affiliate who first spotted her. She was brought to the attention of producer Enrique Segoviano, who cast her in the children's programme Odisea Burbujas, and she moved to Mexico City. In 1984 she played Marilú in the educational series El tesoro del saber.

Her breakthrough came with ¡Anabel!, which ran from 1988 to 1996. Delgado and Anabel Ferreira were the only cast members to stay for the whole run, working with Mario Bezares, Eugenio Derbez and later Carlos Ignacio. Her best remembered characters there were Yadhira Davilillo, a middle aged mother, and an elderly woman she would return to many times.

That elderly character became Alz in the Alz y Heimer sketches of Derbez en cuando and XHDRBZ, and the grandmother in Cero en conducta with Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo. She also appeared on La casa de la risa and Humor es... los comediantes. Away from comedy she acted in more than fifteen telenovelas, among them El diario de Daniela, Serafín, Querida enemiga, Amorcito corazón, De que te quiero, te quiero, La vecina, Enamorándome de Ramón and Médicos, línea de vida. Her films included Yo, tú, él y el otro and Un gallo con muchos huevos, in which she voiced the grandmother.

She kept working into her seventies. In 2022 she joined the comedy series ¿Tú crees? as Dora, a worker at the supermarket where the show is set, and in 2025 she played Mother Gustava in the telenovela Monteverde. Her handprints are set in the Paseo de las Luminarias in Mexico City.

Televisa Espectáculos announced her death on 4 November 2026, writing that it joined the grief of her family, friends and the public who loved her. No cause of death was given in the first reports.

My abuela had Univision on every afternoon and the Alz sketches were the one thing that made her laugh out loud, really laugh. I didn't understand half of it as a kid but I understood that. 77 years old. Sending something good to her family tonight.
