Mark Mortimer was an American actor, Army veteran and builder, best known to daytime television audiences as Nick Hudson on the NBC soap opera Another World. He played the role from December 1996 until the series ended in June 1999, the third and longest serving actor in the part.

He was born Mark Christopher Mortimer on 15 April 1967 in Yorkville, Illinois. His parents were Sharlene Pearson and Emil Mortimer, and he grew up in a large family with six siblings. Before he turned to acting he served in the United States Army and then worked as a model, the first of several reinventions that his family later saw as the thread running through his life.

Mortimer took over the role of Nick Hudson, the son of Michael Hudson, on Another World on 24 December 1996, succeeding Justin Chambers and Kevin McClatchy. Over two and a half years his storylines centred on Nick's romance with Sofia Carlino and his place in the Hudson family of Bay City, and he remained with the show until its final episode on 25 June 1999. He later appeared in independent films including The Nowhere Man, Killing Cupid and Lethal.

In 2000 he met Christie at Hunter Mountain in New York, and the couple were married for 25 years. They moved from New York to Chicago, then to Los Angeles and back to the Chicago area, and with a business partner, Dave, they built Inside Out Construction, also known as IOC Construction, which they ran for more than 20 years. After waiting 11 years to become parents, they had a daughter, Hunter, and his family said he arranged his working life around being her father.

Mortimer was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. He and Christie responded by founding the Integrative Access Foundation, which helps people with cancer reach integrative therapies they might otherwise be unable to afford, and he also shared his experience through conversations under the name Beyond the Diagnosis. He died on 23 September 2026 at the age of 59, surrounded by his family. News of his death was shared by Alan Locher, host of The Locher Room, and fans of Another World posted tributes. His funeral was held on 26 September 2026 at Christ Community Church in South Elgin, Illinois, and he was laid to rest at St. Charles/Resurrection Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.

man I can't stop thinking about this. Nick Hudson was like the guy on Another World my aunt always talked about during her shows in the afternoon, I'd be home sick from school watching with her and she'd say here he comes, and I didn't even know what a soap opera was supposed to be but I knew that guy had a presence. 1997 or so, something like that. anyway I saw this news today and just sat with it a minute, 59 is nothing, cancer since 2024 the article said. wife and a daughter too, Hunter I think her name was. sorry this got long, I just wasn't expecting to feel anything about a soap actor from when I was a kid but here we are
