Robert Eugene Blount was a Georgia-born Michigan engineer whose life turned on work, union membership and a large blended family. Born on 5 February 1944 in Decatur County, Georgia, to Robert and Aldis (Dykes) Blount, he was one of three children. He spent his early years in Georgia, then moved to Michigan in the 1960s to join the growing automotive economy, carrying what his family later called a strong work ethic and a steady, dependable nature.

In Michigan he worked as a boiler engineer for St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing, a role he held with dedication and pride. He was also a member of UAW Local 4911. Colleagues and relatives remembered quiet strength and kindness given freely rather than a public career of speeches or titles.

Family remained the center of his days. He is survived by his wife, Jenny Lee Blount; children Cindy Cloud, Andrew Blount, Patrick Michael Blount, and Mark Alan Blount (and Mark's wife Lynda); stepchildren Sue and Mark Locke, Tom and Sheri March, Judy and Jim Cunningham, Karen and Dan Crawford, and Larry Allen and Gwen March; grandchildren Patrick M. Blount Jr., Veronica Blount and Elias Blount; many step-grandchildren; and his sister Alice Marie and Joe Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Ronald Blount, and his stepson Michael March.

Away from work he liked westerns and the television series Dancing with the Stars, outdoor time fishing or skeet shooting with his sons, coffee, and morning breakfasts with Jenny at the Flap Jack Shack in Frandor. Those ordinary routines, the obituary said, reflected the comfort he found in everyday companionship.

Robert Eugene Blount died on Thursday 17 September 2026 at the age of 82. A funeral service was set for noon on Monday 28 September 2026 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main St., Perry, Michigan, with Rev. Dr. Tom Rundel officiating and visitation from 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials were suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or another children's charity. Online condolences were invited through the funeral home. An earlier automated stub had listed his death as 21 September 2026, the date the Legacy notice appeared; the family obituary confirms 17 September.
