Robert Redford starred in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting and All the President's Men, won a directing Oscar for Ordinary People, and founded the Sundance Institute and Film Festival, which reshaped independent cinema. He died at his Utah home at 89.

I met Robert once, very briefly, and they were kind to a nervous stranger. That's what I'll remember.

My grandmother loved Robert. When she died we played their work at the funeral. Now they're both gone. Strange how connected it all is.
