My mother rang me from Rittman to tell me, I still had the kettle in my hand. She used to feed the hummingbirds in her yard every summer. 76 is no age. Sending love to David and the family from Spain.

Sharon Kay Brown was not a celebrity, a politician, or a public figure in the way most people who receive a memorial page are. She was a private citizen of Rittman, Ohio, and her life became part of the public record only through the obituary her family published after her death. She died on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by family, following complications from heart surgery. She was 76 years old.
She was born on May 10, 1950, in Sidney, West Virginia, to Clarence and Ruth (Jackson) Webb. She grew up to graduate from Wayne High School in 1968. On August 21, 1971, she married David A. Brown, and the couple settled in Rittman, Ohio, where they remained for the rest of her life. She spent eighteen years working at Clampco, a manufacturing company in nearby Wadsworth, before retiring, and she was a longtime member of Rittman Grace Brethren Church.
Away from work, Sharon filled her days with small, steady pleasures: crossword puzzles and word games, gardening, feeding the hummingbirds in her yard, and trips back to her native West Virginia to see family. Sunday dinners with her siblings were a fixture of her week, and she was known for her fondness for what she called a "Super Salad", a simple soup and salad meal. She enjoyed detective shows and mysteries, including Perry Mason, Matlock, NCIS, and adaptations of Agatha Christie novels.
Sharon mattered, in the way that most people matter, to the circle of family and friends who knew her. She is survived by her husband of over fifty years, Dave; her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Je Stanley of Rittman; her son and daughter-in-law, David Jr. and Laura Brown, also of Rittman; four grandchildren, Mitchell, Craig and Brody Stanley and Meredith Brown; and several siblings, including Fred Webb, Earl Scott Webb, Lulla Belle Morgan, Maxine Swinderman, Helen Arnold and Linda Boreman.
Her family's obituary described her as someone who would be remembered for making people laugh and for consistently putting others before herself. No cause beyond the complications from her heart surgery has been made public, and no further medical details have been released. Her funeral is due to be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Rittman Grace Brethren Church, with burial to follow at Rittman Cemetery.
