I don't really know how I came across this notice, think it was shared somewhere, but it stopped me still all the same. Forty seven. My own boy is near enough that age and it makes you go cold thinking on it. Sudden, at home, that's how my brother went too, years back now, out in the garden one minute pottering with his roses and then gone. You never get used to that word, sudden. Says he leaves a wife, Stephanie, and two girls, Zara and Courtney, and I said a little prayer for them just now, out by my own roses actually, funny how that works. Didn't know him from Adam but you still feel it. God rest him.

Shaun Micheal Jones was a resident of Wellington, New Zealand, who died suddenly at his home on 23 October 2026 at the age of 47. Unlike many of the people profiled on this site, Jones was not a public figure in the conventional sense: no Wikipedia page, film, record, sporting career or public office has been documented for him, and no Wikidata record of his occupation exists. What is publicly known about his life and death comes from the death notice published by his family, which appeared in The Post in Wellington and was syndicated on Legacy.com.
According to that notice, on 23 October 2026 (aged 47) he passed away suddenly at home after an unexpected medical event. The notice describes him as beloved husband of Stephanie, treasured father of Zara and Courtney, precious son of Léonce and Margrette, and goes on to describe him as most excellent brother and brother-in-law to Anita and Chris, John, Claire and Theresa, cherished son-in-law of Paul and Jane and much loved member of the wider Jones, Currie and Reddish families.
The notice also calls him a top class uncle, friend, band mate, team mate and colleague, which suggests he was involved in music and in a sporting team alongside paid work, but no further detail about his profession, education or any public activities has been published, and this page will be updated if that changes. There is no indication that Jones held any public role, had a media or sporting career of note, or was otherwise known outside his family, workplace and community circle before his death.
News of his death, confined so far to the family notice, has prompted private condolences through the guestbook attached to the obituary rather than any wider public tribute, which is consistent with him having been a private individual. A memorial service is due to be held in his honour, and this page sets out what is known with certainty while being clear about the considerable amount that remains unknown or unconfirmed.
This entry will be revised if further verified information about Shaun Micheal Jones's life, career or the circumstances of his death becomes publicly available.
