Victor Eugene Caudle, Jr. was a Richmond, Virginia businessman who spent more than three decades building and running a roofing and construction company that worked throughout the Mid Atlantic region. He died on September 5, 2026, in Richmond at the age of 71, surrounded by loved ones, according to an obituary published by the Richmond Times-Dispatch through Legacy.com.

Caudle was born on November 20, 1954, in Richmond, the son of Victor Caudle Sr. and Delphia Lee Smith. He graduated from Meadowbrook High School in 1972 and briefly attended Virginia Tech before leaving to pursue a career in the roofing and construction trade, an industry he would remain in for the rest of his working life.

Over the course of his career, Caudle built a company known for roofing and construction work across the Mid Atlantic. His firm took part in rebuilding efforts in South Florida after Hurricane Andrew struck in 1992, one of the most destructive hurricanes in United States history, contributing to the long recovery of communities devastated by the storm. Colleagues and family remembered him as a man defined by a strong work ethic, resilience, and a warm, easygoing sense of humor.

Away from work, Caudle was known among family and friends for his enjoyment of life on the water. He was an avid boater and water skier who cherished time spent on the river, interests that friends and relatives said reflected his outgoing personality. After decades running his business, he retired to Hertford, North Carolina, before returning to his native Richmond in January 2026, only a few months before his death.

Caudle is survived by his three children, Laura Caterino, Adam Caudle, and Mark Caudle, three grandchildren, and his sister, Michelle Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents. No cause of death has been made public. In lieu of a public memorial, the family arranged a private service for immediate family members.
