I only visited Iceland once, back in the nineties, and picked up a newspaper just to practice reading it, sound out the words over coffee. There was a column in it, sharp, about American politics of all things, and I kept that paper folded in a drawer for years without knowing whose name was on it. Found out much later, googling around, that it was his, and that he'd gone on to write a whole piece measuring some local politician against Trump on dishonesty, which is exactly the kind of thing that sticks with you. Anyway. 62 is no age at all. I only had the one column, and I still remember it.
