so I'm trying to remember how I even found The Tenants, I think it was a film class in like 2014 and we were doing world cinema and everyone else picked French stuff and I got assigned this one, and honestly I didn't expect to laugh and then feel so sad in the same hour. there's this whole ensemble thing happening and he's just Mr Ghandi in the middle of it being completely himself. anyway I read today he died in Tehran at 65 and I had to go dig up my old notes from that class because I couldn't remember his name, isn't that awful. I never did see more of his films, I kept meaning to. edit: found a clip of Mother on youtube just now and I'm not okay
