My mom had And the Band Played On on VHS and made me watch it with her when I was way too young to understand half of it. Michael Kearns played Cleve Jones and it was the first time I saw someone just existing as gay on screen like it wasn't a plot twist. 76. That's a long life to spend telling the truth out loud.
