I only saw her once, in Before Sunrise, but I've thought about that scene a hundred times since. The way she looked at them, like she knew something true about the world. Rest easy, Erni.

Before Sunrise was the first Linklater I ever watched and that palm reader scene stayed with me for years. Just learned she was 68 when they filmed it. What a life in theatre before that, what a life after. She seemed so present, so real.

99 years old and still speaking her mind. That takes real courage. Austria lost a true one.

She taught so many actors how to find the truth in a line. My mother studied with her at the Mozarteum in the 1980s and never stopped using what she learned. A life well given to the craft.

99 years old and still teaching people how to speak the truth. Vienna's loss but honestly she sounds like she already said what she came to say.

Saw her in Before Sunrise when I was young and thought she was magic. Proper magic, not tricks. Just now learning how long she worked, how much she gave. Rest well.
