I didn't know much about Adyghe literature until I heard about him, and then I wanted to read everything. He made me curious about a whole world I'd missed. Grateful for that gift.

Before Sunrise was the first Linklater I ever watched and that palm reader scene stayed with me for years. Just learned she was 68 when they filmed it. What a life in theatre before that, what a life after. She seemed so present, so real.

I only knew his work through the May covers, but every time I picked one up I felt like I was stepping into somewhere real. That detail, that care. He made you believe in it.

Moira Rose taught me that being weird and kind doesn't have to be a choice. RIP to a legend who showed us all how to wear sequins and your heart at the same time.

Sugar Magnolia was playing when my mom told me he'd died. She'd grown up with that song and played it for me a hundred times. I'll never hear it the same way again, but I think that's okay. He made something that lasts.
