Duncan Sheik

Duncan Scott Sheik was born on 18 November 1969 in Montclair, New Jersey. After his parents divorced he split time between his father's New Jersey home and his mother's home in South Carolina. A Juilliard-trained grandmother introduced him to the piano; he later took up electric guitar and, by age twelve, was playing in a cover band with high-school students. Barely Breathing and other Sheik songs appeared across 1990s and 2000s television and film, including Party of Five, ER, Great Expectations, Friends, Birds of Prey, What a Girl Wants, Cold Case, Glee and Girls.
