For Landon Murphy · 3d ago

Saw this come across a DeSoto County News alert on my phone while my dad and I were watching the evening politics roundup, and it stopped us both cold. A Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper, gone at 51. We don't know him, never did, but my dad's worked in public safety policy for years and just sat there shaking his head. Those troopers are on the road every day so the rest of us don't have to think about it.

For Gary Farha · 11d ago

I don't really know what to say here. Never heard of Quincy, Illinois until this story but 40 years in one job for the public is rare. 68 is no age.

For Richard Harrison · 23 Sept 2026

my dad just called me out of nowhere to tell me Richard Harrison died, said he grew up on those spaghetti westerns. 90 years old. I only know him from clips but the man had a whole era.

For Abdul Jalil Mastan · 14 Sept 2026

Followed Indian politics for years and Mastan's prohibition work stood out. A man who took unpopular stands and stuck to them. That takes real conviction.

For Robin Morgan · 5 Sept 2026

She made feminism a tool for real political change, not just theory. That matters.

For Pranab Patnaik · 27 Aug 2026

Cultural figures like Pranab Patnaik remind us what we lose when regional art forms don't get national platforms. A lifetime of work, and most Indians will never hear it.

Didn't know the Utah connection, that's neat.

That line got me through a bad reading slump once, oddly enough.

Same energy as watching a three-hour film about a guy who just refuses to budge. Sometimes that's the whole story.

That speech changed how I understood what politics could be. Thank you for sharing that.
