i keep thinking about how his name only showed up in my life because of that one terrible day in Butler, july 2024, and now it's showing up again because he's gone. i was folding laundry when i saw it on my phone and i just stood there. 76 years old. i don't even know what he did for a living or where he was from, none of that ever got reported, just that he was critically wounded and somehow made it through. that always stuck with me, that he made it through. sorry, i don't really know why i'm writing this, i never knew him, i just remember exactly where i was standing in my kitchen when i first heard about the shooting and again tonight hearing he'd died. edit: i looked it up again, it says he was in critical but stable condition after, that's the phrase that's been in my head all night
