My dad called me about this one, actually called, didn't just text. I'm sitting in a hotel room in Hanoi and he's telling me about a book he read in grad school in the seventies called The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere. Ninety six years old. Didn't know the name till today but apparently it shaped how my dad thinks about everything from church to the news. Small world, big mind.

Only came across this man's work last year, researching road safety in Nigeria for a trip that never happened. Read how he stood at Eruku Bridge after that crash and just asked drivers to slow down at night. Stuck with me more than it should have from someone I'll never meet.

okay so I saw this come up and I genuinely sat here for a minute trying to place the name, Ralph Waldo Cail Jr, like is this the guy from the radio thing my dad used to have on in the garage, I want to say Michigan but it might have been someone else entirely. Anyway whoever he was to whoever knew him, sorry for the loss. Edit: still can't place him, maybe I'm thinking of someone else
