my mom texted me this obituary out of nowhere. she said Mrs. Heussner ran the cafeteria at Hale School when she was a kid and the rolls she made were the whole reason everyone showed up on Fridays. 88 years old. wild to think about.

My mom called this morning from Cluj to tell me, before I'd even seen it online. She wasn't a chemist, just someone who knew his name the way everyone there did. 89 years old. Strange to hear it secondhand, an ocean away.
