Never knew of Karen Handel until I came across this obituary while tracing farm families of the Dakotas for a project. She only finished a year of that home economics degree, gave it up for marriage in 1960, not the path I'd have picked. But reading how she stayed with her girls through their 4-H years, that's a kind of devotion you can't fake. 85 is a full life.
